MEET EMMA
For a greener, fairer, healthier Wales
I'm Emma Sandrey, and I'm standing to be the Lib Dem Cardiff Central candidate for the Senedd elections next year.
I was first elected in 2017 to the ward of Pentwyn, which is a four member ward in the Cardiff Central constituency. I am currently the Cardiff Lib Dem spokesperson for strategic planning and transport, and in 2019 I became the deputy leader of the Cardiff Lib Dem group on Cardiff Council.
I'm standing for selection because I believe next year is crucial in the fight to maintain and progress the cause of devolution, against the threat of those who wish for our country to go backwards and be ruled once again entirely from Westminster. Rather than wishing it away, and pretending it doesn't exist, I am willing to face up to that challenge and present a vision for a better Cardiff and a better Wales, to prove that devolution is something we should embrace and work to grow and mature.
We are at a unique moment in time, we're in the middle of a global crisis. There is much comfort to be had for some in the desire to get back to 'normal' as soon as possible. But I believe in this moment we need to truly reflect on how society isn't working for so many, and see to it that we emerge from these challenging times determined to put in place solutions that are sustainable, equitable and just.
My vision for Cardiff and Wales is unashamedly ambitious. We can be better, and we deserve better. Let's fight for it.
